WHAT
Fish processing and seafood trade for generations
In Apalvågen on Sotra, west of Bergen, Sekkingstad has been engaged in fish processing and seafood trade for generations. A good harbor and short distance to the fishing grounds along the coast have given the location a natural position for such activities. It is also a short distance to Bergen for forwarding to customers at home and abroad.
Vågen Seafood AS was established in the spring of 1996 and has experienced steady growth since its start. Today, the company has an annual turnover of 180 million NOK with 18 employees. The main product is fresh and frozen salmon and trout fillet produced for customers at home and abroad.
Atlantic Salmon
The finest of the salmon species
The Atlantic salmon is considered by many to be the finest of the salmon species. The male salmon can grow up to 1.5 m long and weigh more than 40 kg. Salmon farming is one of Norway's largest and most important export industries, and Norway is a world-leading producer and exporter of fresh and frozen salmon. The conditions for salmon farming are excellent in Norway - the sea temperature is optimal, and there are fish farms all along the Norwegian coast.
FAMILY BUSINESS
Third generation Sekkingstad
Today, the business is run by the third generation of Sekkingstad, in the same place and with many of the same values as before. Bordering the sea on the west coast has made fishing a natural part of everyday life for generations. Since Konrad Sekkingstad started with lobster fishing in 1923, the family has built a strong tradition for quality and craftsmanship in seafood production. This generational knowledge combined with modern technology makes us a leading player in the industry.
